Hardware Buying Guide

Genesis Advantage operates on a wide variety of desktop computers. Because hardware capabilities  are constantly changing,
we've listed both minimum hardware requirements and advised hardware requirements (based upon today's hardware market.)

Purchasing New Equipment (September 2008)

You are probably aware of how fast prices in the computer hardware market change.These hardware specifications indicate where we feel the best "bang for your buck" exists today.

SERVER

  • Processor 2 Ghz or faster
  • 320 gigabyte hard disk drive
  • 2 gigabytes of RAM
  • Color Monitor
  • External USB Drive (for backups)

WORKSTATIONS

  • Processor 1.8 Ghz or faster
  • 160 gigabyte hard disk drive
  • 1 gigabyte of RAM
  • Color Monitor
  • Fax/Modem (in workstations used for faxing)

Using Existing Equipment

Most computers produced during the last 3 years will provide outstanding performance when running Genesis Advantage. Use these guidelines to determine if your existing equipment will be satisfactory.

  • Processor 200 Mhz or faster
  • 4 gigabyte hard disk drive
  • 1 gigabyte of RAM
  • Color Monitor (800x600 min. resolution)
  • External USB Drive (for backups)

  • 1.2 gigabyte hard disk drive
  • 512 megabytes of RAM
  • Color Monitor (800x600 min. resolution)
  • Fax/Modem (in workstations used for faxing)

Printers

Genesis Advantage prints to most printers that have a Windows Printer Driver. Various receipt printers are also supported at point of sale.
